GPA Calculator
Calculate your GPA from grades and credits.
How to Do It Manually
GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated by converting letter grades to numeric points (usually A=4.0), weighting by credit hours, then averaging.
GPA = Σ(grade points × credit hours) ÷ Σ(credit hours)
- Convert each letter grade to points: A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, D=1.0, F=0.
- Multiply each grade point by the course's credit hours.
- Sum all (points × hours).
- Divide by total credit hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?
Weighted GPA counts honors/AP classes more heavily. Unweighted treats all classes equally.
Does +/− affect GPA?
Some schools use A+=4.3, A=4.0, A−=3.7. Others ignore +/−. Check your institution.
